First off, thank you for reading Terez! I honestly avoided reading that piece because I knew it was going to be one of those “not all Trump supporters are racist” posts, and I was correct. I only read it so I could respond to this and know what the hell I was talking about lol. There’s even a part in there where the author of that piece says:
“And while the 2017 protests in Charlottesville, Virginia, led to a tragedy precipitated by real racists and real nazis and real white supremacists, I started to see that those labels simply don’t apply to most people who support Trump.”
That stung.
To state that supporting and voting for a racist human being to govern over the country isn’t enough to make you a “real” racist is honestly repugnant to me. Delusional is a perfect word to describe that post. I’m just tired of white liberals acting like there’s no sense of urgency to get Trump out of office based on the harm he has done already. That “made people feel good about America.” thing is so funny to me because I was feeling pretty good about America until all this Trump stuff popped off, but what minority groups want apparently does not matter in this discussion.
